Shortcomings
In short, Shortcomings isn’t a film families should be rushing to the theater to watch.
Jules
Jules feels like E.T. for adults. And it’s got a few adult issues to go along with it.
Landscape With Invisible Hand
This creatively odd slice of sci-fi has art and aliens on its mind. But its R-rated content doesn’t fit well in either category.
Sitting in Bars With Cake
Sitting in Bars With Cake does involve bars and cake. But it’s really about friendship and sacrifice in the face of terminal cancer.
Strays
Like a dog returns to its own vomit, well, so does Strays. Again … and again … and again.
The Last Voyage of the Demeter
The Last Voyage of the Demeter, like the movie’s monster, comes to the fore filled with blood but without a soul to speak of.
The Boogeyman
The Boogeyman, the monster, thrives in the dark. So perhaps it’s only logical that the movie itself camps there, too.
Vacation Friends 2
Vacation Friends 2 is a silly, salacious, morally vacuous trip.
Meg 2: The Trench
Jason Statham’s return in Meg 2 begs an age-old question: What’s better than one megalodon? Why, three, of course! Plus: dinosaurs!
Past Lives
Past Lives explores the hopeful rekindling of a childhood relationship. It’s a rekindling that has some issues.
